Job Summary:

Our client, a multinational automobile company based in Dubai is looking for a Senior Accountant. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, monthly and quarterly reporting, payroll-related accounting, vendor payments, budgeting support, VAT compliance and other finance-related activities . The role will also supervise one Accountant and support the strengthening of finance processes as the Dubai office evolves from a Representative Office to a more independent operating structure in the future. As the business expands, the role is expected to support broader finance responsibilities, including invoicing, receivables, commercial accounting and possible ERP transition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 1. Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting 
    • Oversee the accounting activities of the Dubai office and ensure accurate and timely recording and monitoring of transactions and cashflows 
    • Manage month-end, year-end closing activities and preparation of periodic financial reports for management and Head Office. 
    • Ensure proper accounting treatment, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and compliance with internal policies and procedures. 
    • Monitor general ledger balances, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting schedules.

  • 2. Accounts Payable, Receipts & Cash Management 
    • Oversee vendor payments, office and utility-related payments, expense postings, and other operating disbursements. 
    • Monitor receipts, bank transactions, petty cash, and fund management. 
    • Ensure timely bank reconciliations, payment controls, and proper cash flow monitoring. 
    • Maintain proper control over cheque preparation, bank transfers, and payment processing.

  • 3. Payroll Accounting & Employee Settlements 
    • Oversee payroll-related accounting for local and expatriate employees, including reimbursements, deductions, adjustments, and related reconciliations. 
    • Ensure proper accounting and control of employee-related payments and salary transfers. 
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy and timely processing.

  • 4. Budgeting & Analysis 
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the Administration Department, including quarterly budget revisions. 
    • Support preparation of budget reports and monthly actual-versus-budget analysis. 
    • Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations on key movements. 
    • Support management in monitoring costs, spending trends, and budget performance.

  • 5. VAT Compliance & Audit Support 
    • Oversee VAT data preparation, filing support, and VAT refund processes in coordination with external consultants. 
    • Monitor changes in UAE VAT and accounting-related regulations and assess business impact. 
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and audit expectations. 
    • Support internal and external audit requirements by maintaining accurate records and documentation.

  • 6. Head Office Coordination 
    • Support accounting, reporting, pooled fund calculations, and invoicing to Head Office where required. 
    • Coordinate with Head Office and other stakeholders on monthly reporting, reconciliations, and finance-related matters.

  • 7. Asset Control & Stock Taking 
    • Maintain proper accounting and control of fixed assets and other company assets. 
    • Coordinate and support periodic stock taking / physical verification of assets. 
    • Ensure asset records are updated accurately and any discrepancies are investigated and reported.

  • 8. Admin Projects & Management Support 
    • Support finance-related and cross-functional admin projects as assigned by management. 
    • Prepare presentations, reports, and analysis materials for management review. 
    • Explain financial data, proposals, and accounting matters clearly to management and relevant stakeholders. 
    • Provide structured support for internal discussions, reporting requirements and process improvement initiatives.

  • 9. Team Supervision & Process Improvement 
    • Supervise and review the work of the Accountant reporting to this role. 
    • Ensure proper work allocation, follow-up, accuracy and development of the team member. 
    • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, efficiency and reporting quality.

  • 10. Future Business Transition Support 
    • Support the finance and accounting requirements of the Dubai office as it transitions from a Representative Office to a more independent operating entity. 
    • Prepare for broader accounting responsibilities that may arise in future, including customer invoicing, receivables, commercial accounting, revenue-related transactions, stronger internal controls, and ERP / process migration, including possible transition from Sage to SAP
Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
    • Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred. 
    • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a senior or supervisory accounting role
    • Strong experience in financial accounting, month-end and year-end closing, payments, reconciliations, payroll accounting, budgeting, and VAT. 
    • UAE accounting experience is required. 
    • Experience with Sage or similar accounting / ERP systems is required. 
    • Exposure to SAP or ERP migration projects will be an advantage. 
    • Experience in a multinational or regional office environment will be preferred. 
    • Experience in a trading, automotive, motorcycle, or commercial business environment will be an added advantage. 
    • Experience in asset control, stock taking and support for internal admin / business projects will be an advantage.
