Assistant Alumni Relations Manager

My client is well reputed university within a specified geographical region, to lead the careers and alumni activities in the region, to engage Global students in one-to-one and group career thinking, workshops and events, engage with the external market to generate job opportunities; to increase local alumni engagement, affinity and fundraising; to contribute to marketing, events and special projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES OR DUTIES:

Work with the Centre Director and Careers and alumni relations manager to implement the strategy and initiatives for the careers and alumni department within the University, as aligned with the university post-graduation careers and alumni services.

Collate and report on The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reports, user statistics, feedback and recommendations.

Ensure data integrity by working closely with the central postgraduate careers service and the central Alumni office to continually update and improve students and alumni records.

Keep abreast of the competitive landscape locally and regionally, build partnerships with business schools, societies or associations that would benefit the University’s community.

Assist in initiating and managing corporate relations with target clients & center stakeholders to generate business opportunities.

Work closely with the Marketing and Communications officer and the Annual Fund Officer in the central Alumni Office, providing local guidance on how best to approach marketing, communication as well as annual fund activities.

Work closely with the Postgraduate Careers Service team  to ensure services are coordinated.

Employability & Career Support

  • Provide face-to-face, telephone, and email careers advice for postgraduate students across all programs.
  • Conduct group careers training sessions to deliver key career management skills.
  • Promote additional careers services delivered by the central Postgraduate Careers Service.
  • Identify and engage with local and regional employers to generate job opportunities for students.
  • Organize career fairs and events that raise student employability and produce CV books.
  • Identify and engage external industry speakers to raise students’ market knowledge.
  • Organize and deliver networking events, company visits, and external initiatives to raise the profile of the students.
  • Engage with local and regional stakeholders to generate potential opportunities for students and alumni.

Alumni Relations

  • Engage with locally and regionally based alumni to raise the profile of university and its students.
  • Be the point of contact for local alumni committees and groups, building strong relationships to ensure partnership at all levels.
  • Be the custodian of alumni communication and publicity, including print and online publications targeted at alumni working closely with the marketing & communications team.
  • Maintain digital communication (social media, email, newsletters) with alumni.
  • Ensure effective local guidance for alumni-related marketing, communication, and annual fund activities.
  • Organize events that involve alumni (e.g., networking, speaker sessions, company visits).
  • Engage alumni in initiatives that support student employability and university branding.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives to support the University as led by the center director.
  • Support special projects for the Centre Director.

Corporate Engagement

  • Initiate and manage corporate relations with target clients, partners and stakeholders in the region.
  • Generate and grow corporate business opportunities in the region; contributing to the identification of target clients that generate partnerships and job opportunities for our students.
  • Support Social Responsibility activities by finding the right sponsors for each initiative.
  • Represent the Dubai Centre at community and networking events.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with existing account base and expand relationships where possible.

The post holder will also be required to:

  • Relevant experience within a Higher Education institute in careers, employability and alumni relations.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Effective communicator with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Organized and able to prioritize diverse tasks with a proactive attitude.
