Our client, a leading commodity trading business group requires an Assistant Manager - Internal Audit for their Dubai location. Potential candidates must fulfil the below KRA's and academic pre-requsites to be eligible for the role. Below are a few scope and key responsibilities displayed.


  • Plan and execute internal audits of the firm and its subsidiaries 
  • Thorough understanding within Dubai Financial Market(DFM), Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange(ADX) and NASDAQ markets
  • Excellent knowhow in commodity trading business
  • Develop a deep understanding of the firm’s business strategy, policies, processes, risks and controls.
  • Validate the firm’s approach to risk management including assessment and mitigation of key risks to which the firm is exposed, for the firm and subsidiaries.
  • Develop an annual audit plan. 
  • Lead and execute risk assessments and audit engagements, ensuring audit procedures are appropriate including identifying and defining issues, developing creative audit techniques, conducting interviews as well as reviewing and analyzing processes, systems and documentation.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with policies & procedures, reliability and integrity of financial and operational information and effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Evaluate financial documents for accuracy and compliance with federal regulations
  • Identify the financial risk of the organization and offer recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Identify accounting and financial record-keeping processes that can be improved
  • Determine ways to cut costs and improve profitability
  • Assess the efficiency and productivity of internal staff and make recommendations for improvement
  • Present findings to upper management in the form of reports and presentations
  • Identify control gaps and process improvement opportunities. Establish and ensure sustainable monitoring and follow-up activities, recommendations and action plans.
  • Discuss Audit findings and controls weaknesses with process owners and obtain feedback and Management responses, set and discuss remedial action plans that are reasonable and achievable, prior to presenting final report to the board.
  • Report regularly to the Audit Committee on the audit plan and status of implementation of remediation plans put in place to improve internal controls.
  • Work with different business units, refining internal controls and business process improvements.
  • Keep abreast of new or technical subjects required to support audits (e.g. market risk, regulations & guidelines, financial instruments, IFRS etc.).
  • Manage external consultants conducting internal audit assignments on the group
  • Coordinates with other regulatory functions within the firm such as legal and compliance.


Academic & Requisites

  • CIA /CPA /CFA -in addition to Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance
  • Accounting System is SAP – preferably experience in SAP internal audit.
  • Experience - 4-5 yrs. as Assistant Manager/Internal Auditor.
  • Previous or current experience in Big4 is a must
