STRATEGIC BUYER   (30337)

NADIA’s client, one of the global leaders in the turbine industry is looking to hire a Strategic Buyer for their Abu Dhabi manufacturing unit.

 

PURPOSE/SUMMARY : 

 

Incumbent is responsible and leads all strategic purchasing related activities during the APD (Accelerated Product Development) process to outsource new parts for the factories and the concerned commodities.

  • Execute fiscal year’s commodity strategy
  • Lead Strategic Purchasing to deliver supply chain projects in line with commodity strategy
  • Create and manage contracts with strategic suppliers
  • Take ownership of the material purchasing variance and lead necessary initiatives to meet fiscal year’s KPI
  • Assess / challenge / enhance business specific processes & procedures where Purchasing is contributor.
  • Continuously improve the supply base in terms of quality, cost, service level and continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring Company Buy Value and achieving KPI’s.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and qualifying new suppliers to achieve best value, aiming to achieve annual cost reduction goals while continually assessing the quality and performance of the supply chain while establishing strategic suppliers.
  • Supporting Plant/Business unit product group with new projects as part of Accelerated Product Development procurement.
  • Undertake scouting and bench-marking, agreements with New Suppliers
  • Assisting Application Engineers in finding new suppliers/ getting quotes/updating pricing tools.
  • Develop and manage the localization strategy, roadmap, and budget. Analyze in detail the customer technical and commercial specifications and help to get localized/Alternate source of material with better price & lead time.
  • Closely coordinate with Engineering team for approval of alternative options and follow up for the revision of the Drawings accordingly.
  • Plan and implement business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Assess / challenge / enhance Business unit specific processes & procedures where Purchasing is contributor.
  • Continuously improve the supply base in terms of quality, cost, service level and continuous improvement. Monitoring Company Buy Value and achieving KPI’s.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • To ensure that company Procurement Processes & Procedures is followed.
  • Any other task assigned.

 QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • EDUCATION: Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years’ experience within Strategic Industrial Purchasing in International Environment working in a matrix organization.
  • Global sourcing experience.
  • Proven experience managing a large supplier pool of minimum 50 suppliers.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCES:

 

  • Technical : strong technical understanding of Procurement Activities / Technical drawings / Metal fabrication / Materials.
  • Very strong administrative / PC skills (MS Office) especially Excel. ERP Oracle is an asset.
  • Characteristics: assertive, challenger, Strong negotiation, team player, good communication skills, structured, results oriented and analytical thinking.
  • Financial understanding = impact purchasing activities on P&L for projects.
  • Language: Fluently English speaking & writing, any other language is an asset.

BUSINESS UNDERSTANDING: Detailed knowledge of engineering equipment and internal processes in project execution, Technical/Mechanical aptitude, Quick and smart decision making.
