Job Summary:

The Middle School Homeroom Teacher is responsible for overseeing the academic, social, and emotional development of students in Grades 6–8. This role combines subject teaching with homeroom responsibilities, ensuring students are supported holistically throughout the school day. The teacher will deliver engaging lessons, maintain strong classroom management, guide student behavior, foster positive communication with parents, and collaborate with colleagues to uphold school standards and values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 1. Teaching & Instruction
  • Teach assigned middle school subject(s) following the school curriculum, academic standards, and scope & sequence.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.
  • Use differentiated and student-centered instructional strategies to support mixed-ability learners.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools into lessons (Smartboard, LMS, Google tools, etc.).
  • Assign classwork, homework, and projects aligned with learning objectives.
  • 2. Homeroom Duties
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and mentor for a specific group of middle school students.
  • Take daily attendance, monitor punctuality, and address student behavior.
  • Lead homeroom sessions covering pastoral care, social–emotional learning, values education, and character development.
  • Guide students in organizational skills, study habits, and personal responsibility.
  • 3. Classroom Management & Student Behavior
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful learning environment.
  • Implement school policies on discipline and behavior management.
  • Encourage good conduct, teamwork, respect, and responsibility among students.
  • Address behavioral concerns promptly and professionally, communicating with parents when necessary.
  • 4. Assessment & Progress Tracking
  • Administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
  • Track academic performance and maintain accurate grade records.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
  • Prepare report cards, progress reports, and academic documentation required by the school.
  • Use data to adjust teaching strategies and support individual learning needs.
  • 5. Parent & Community Communication
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding academic progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Attend parent–teacher conferences and school events.
  • Maintain professional and culturally sensitive communication at all times.
  • 6. Collaboration & Professional Development
  • Work collaboratively with middle school teachers, subject leaders, and school management.
  • Participate in staff meetings, grade-level planning sessions, and curriculum development.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with best practices.
  • Contribute to schoolwide initiatives, activities, and extracurricular programs.
  • 7. Administrative & School Support Duties
  • Prepare weekly plans, teaching materials, and documentation required by the school and SPEA standards.
  • Ensure responsible use and care of classroom resources and digital devices.
  • Follow school policies, safeguarding protocols, and health & safety guidelines.
Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education or specialized degree with a teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed + subject specialization).
    • Minimum 2–3 years of middle school teaching experience (UAE experience preferred).
    • Strong command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
    • Knowledge of adolescent development and middle school behavior management.
    • Familiarity with UAE curriculum requirements and SPEA standards.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Effective use of technology in teaching and learning environments.
